Sukku Petto
Light-Up Figurine

As people spend more and more time alone at their desks, Sukku Petto—meaning “desk pets”—offers small animal figurines designed to keep them company while they work. Each one features a hand-turned maple base and a touch-controlled light, combining a playful presence with a warm, sustainable desk companion.

THE GOAL

To create a desk companion so that people who work at their desk all day don't feel so lonely.

Toys & Kids
CMF RESEARCH

Toys are becoming more refined to fit into adult living spaces. They often use natural materials like cardboard, cork, and timber with softer colors, creating products that blend into the home and are designed to last longer.

MINIMALIST ANTHROPOMORPHISM

Minimalist anthropomorphism  uses subtle human or animal-like traits while keeping the design simple and not overly cute or cartoonish. Soft tones with small Pantone color accents create a more mature and modern look.

SKETCHES

I did some initial form studies to see what profile would look the best.

WHY CHICKENS?

Chickens became increasingly popular as pets during the COVID-19 pandemic, with many households keeping them for eggs, companionship, and sustainable living.

INNER COMPONENTS

Before starting anything, I wanted to make a list of all the supplies I might need to make it work.

MAKING THE BODY

FITTING THE ELECTRONICS

Went through multiple 3D printed parts to ensure that all the electronic parts coculd fit inside the chicken

Soldering was the tricky part, making sure all the wires were paired with the right ones.

FIGURING OUT THE ELECTRONICS

The electronics was the tricky part. I first used one 3v battery, but since the wattage wasn't consistent, I ended up using a cell battery holder that could hold two batteries

The sensor's maximum sensing distance (7-8mm) so I had to make sure the thickness of the chicken's head didn't exceed that. After multiple tries, it finally worked!

PACKAGING

I wanted to design a packaging that would have the least amount of room for movement during transportation.
